Former Carter County School System Superintendent Ronnie Dotson

A resident of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, Ronnie Dotson established a career as an educator that spans roughly 35 years. After earning his undergraduate degree from Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee, he began teaching at Blackberry Elementary in Ransom, Kentucky. Ronnie Dotson also began pursuing his master of arts at Morehead State University (MSU) in Morehead, Kentucky, ultimately securing it in 1990.

While serving as the principal of Southside Elementary in Belfry, Kentucky, in the early 2000s, Dr. Dotson returned to MSU to receive supervisor of instruction and superintendent certification. Ronnie Dotson served as an adjunct professor at MSU from 2013 to 2015 and earned his Doctor of Education in 2016.

From 2011 to 2022, Dr. Dotson served as a superintendent of the Carter County School System. The school system serves Greater Olive Hill and Grayson, Kentucky. During his tenure, the organization went from the bottom five percent to the top 95 percent of the state’s school districts.
